Online Trading Broker

Low cost online Canadian Stock Trading / Broker ?

I am currently trading with TD (ugh) and am looking for an online discount broker that doesn't require me to be rich or to trade over 100 times a month to qualify for their 'as low as' fee. If they have reasonable charting and research available that wouldn't hurt :-) Anyone have any actual trial and error experience or comments on the likes of E-trade, tradeFreedom, CMC, or the Desjardins offering?

1. Take a look at http://www.qtrade.ca I'm not sure if it cheaper than TD, but I don't find it too expensive. I've used them for two years without trouble.
2. Try Interactive Brokers LLC. You will be very happy.
3. This is an answer from an American. It depends upon what kind of stock you normally are buying and how much you are investing in it. I think TD Ameritrade offers a decent service for the price if you specialize in low priced stocks and you buy large blocks of it at a time but I am using their Apex service. I still have to pay for quote services for my Canadian stocks. IAB is great for those who use market orders on higher priced stocks and/or with smaller blocks in general. I am unfamiliar with Qtrade. As for research I don't think the discounters offer anything decent. You are better off to do your own kicking of the tires.
